Casa Bosco

Near Apecchio, Marche, Italy

Eighteenth century farmhouse divided into 3 apartments, sleeping up to 16 guests in total, with swimming pool (12x6m)

Set in open countryside and surrounded by more than 200 hectares of meadow, Casa Bosco, is an idyllic representation of farm life of yesteryear in rural Italy.

The large eighteenth century sandstone farmhouse has been attentively restored and furnished with period pieces to recreate the simple life lived by farmers here in bygone times and the feeling is one of total tranquillity.

The locality is famed for its truffles and Casa Bosco sits in an area known as Le Valli del Tartufo, or Valley of Truffles, not far from the Marche town of Apecchio, where one of several important truffle fairs in the local area is held every October.

Guests who prefer to attempt to find their own truffles rather than buy them can benefit from the experience of Casa Bosco's owner, who regularly takes groups or individuals on truffle hunting missions.

Apecchio itself (two miles away) has a fossil museum and is home to Palazzo Ubaldini and other historical buildings. The town is also known for its mineral springs and is popular with tourists in the summer months.

Half an hour away is the famous university Renaissance town of Urbino, birthplace of the great masters Raphael, Bramante and Gentile da Fabriano. In the famous Palazzo Ducale there you can find the Galleria nazionale delle Marche, an art museum holding one of the Marche region's finest collections of Renaissance art.

In winter months guests can go cross-country ski-ing across the snow-covered meadows and wooded valleys and for downhill skiers there are the pistes of nearby Monte Nerone. And in the summer the same terrain offers interesting walking and trekking through breath-taking scenery.

For those wishing to travel further afield the cities of Perugia, Bologna, Rome and Florence are all potential destinations for a day out.
