Case Fiona
Near Sarnano, Marche, Italy
Two splendid country houses, each sleeping 9 guests, with private parkland, garden and swimming pool (14x6m)
These charming and impressve country houses are available for rental independently or together, making them the perfect relaxing retreat for a large group of friends or family.
Both sit in idyllic countryside and boast stunning mountain views. Casa della Marchesa sits just below Casa Luisa and the houses are only metres apart making them ideal for two families wanting to share their holiday in spacious surroundings.
Ample terraces with large teak dining tables provide lots of space for outdoor dining and relaxing. An outdoor barbecue is provided and the pool is a short dash down the garden. Here there are sunloungers where you can soak up the sun and umbrellas to provide shade.
The adjacent properties are set in 30 acres of private park and woodland providing the utmost privacy and a closeness with the local flora and fauna that makes strolls down the nearby paths an irresistible pleasure!
Case Fiona is just on the edge the Monti Sibillini National Park, a vast park covering nearly 2 million acres, making it the third biggest in Italy. There is a considerable variety of terrain and landscape. Great walks begin from your doorstep and there are ancient woodlands all around.
There are dozens of footpaths throughout the area, marked and described on maps available in the information centres in all the towns and villages in the park. There are also peaks with a truly alpine character, like Monte Bove, whose formidable north face offers climbing for mountaineers.
The house itself is ten minutes drive from Sarnano, a town of 4,000 inhabitants and the gateway to the Sibillini Mountains. Here you can sit outside one of the bars and enjoy an aperitivo before walking up to the town's highest point to enjoy the ancient piazza and some breathtaking views.
Sarnano is a wonderful summer retreat complete with its spa baths, still used to this day for their beautifying powers as well as to treat a range of medical ailments. The town also provides a base to the many skiers that flock to the park's pistes in the winter months.
Needless to say this little medieval hilltop town has plenty of shops and restaurants, and both in summer and winter attracts tourists to its pretty piazzas and thriving markets.
In the area there are also facilities for riding, quad biking and paragliding and the provinces of Macerata and Ascoli provide innumerable opportunities for immersing oneself in the culture and cuisine that makes Marche a little known gem in the heart of Italy.
Be it open air summer sagras providing sites, tastes and sounds unsurpassed across Italy, or the provincial capitals of Ascoli Piceno and Macerata, with their famous marble squares and summer open air opera, second only to Verona throughout Italy, this part of Marche is truly special and should be tried!
The seaside resorts along the Adriatic coast are only 45 minutes away by car and offer a mix of sandy and pebble beaches. A further 30 minutes north is the Conero Riviera with its intimate coved beaches and fine seafood restaurants.
