Villa Claudio
Near Offida, Marche, Italy
Beautiful villa elegantly furnished sleeping six adults and two children, with swimming pool (10x5m)
Perfectly located for those wanting to enjoy the dual delights of Marche's pretty coastline and its stunning inland scenery, fascinating medieval hill-top towns and towering mountains.
Villa Claudio is located less than a mile from Offida and is within easy walking distance of its charming old town, home to various restuarants, shops and bars.
Offida is a famous centre of lace making and in the summer months to this day the ladies of the town can be seen working assiduously with bobbins in hand, often at great speed, sat in shop doorways and even on their doorsteps throughout the historic centre, creating beautiful embroideries.
Just 10 minutes drive away is the pretty seaside resort of Grottamare, which in summer months is a popular destination for Italian beach-lovers.
The property itself is also just a couple of minutes walk away from a highly rated country restaurant and from 2008 will also have a health and beauty centre on its doorstep as well.
The villa itself is located on two floors with all the bedrooms upstairs - two doubles, a twin and a single room. A cot is also provided so that the villa can comfortably sleep eight guests. The double beds can be separated to become two single beds on request.
There is a bathroom with shower upstairs and a second toilet on the ground floor.
Downstairs the simple but stylish kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge and freezer and washing machine. There is also an oven and four gas hobs. A large pantry adjoins.
Outside a mature garden with olives fruit trees, lawns and flowerbeds and outdoor seating boasts lovely views down to the coast and up to the Sibillini mountains. The area is perfect for mountain biking, and walking, trekking and horse riding are all available in the vicinity.
The garden is fenced making it safe for children and guests are welcome to pick the fruit, which includes grapes, apricots, apples and peaches.
The owners are happy to take guests into the old town of Offida to take advantage of the restored wine cellars there which offer wine tasting events to satisfy the conneiseur and beginner alike.
Thursday is market day in Offida and is a great time to see the town at its busy best. The town retains its ancient charm, not least thanks to some highly unique architecture around the unusal triangular central piazza and a strategically positioned church rich in ancient mosaics and made famous after the retreating German army failed conspicuously to blow it up, ensuring pride of place in local folklore.
